Title of page is What do we Believe?

The image is of the cross at the back of the sanctuary The United Church of Christ acknowledges as its sole head, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Saviour.  It acknowledges as kindred in Christ all who share in this confession.  It looks to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper its creative and redemptive work in the world. It claims as its own the faith of the historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers.  It affirms the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God. In accordance with the teachings of our Lord and the practice prevailing among evangelical Christians, it recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper or Holy Communion.

We express our commitment through common phrases.  That they may all be one (John 17:21). In essentials unity, in nonessentials diversity, in all things charity.  The unity of the church is not of its own making.  It is a gift of God.  There is yet more light and truth to break forth from God's Holy Word.  This classic statement assumes the primacy of the Bible the source of understanding the good news and as a foundation for all statements of faith.  It recognizes that the Bible, though written in specific historical times and places, still speaks to us in our present condition.  The priesthood of all believers.  All members of the United Church of Christ are called to minister to others.  Responsible freedom.  As individual members, we are free to believe and act in accordance with our perception of God's will for our lives.  Each congregation or local church is free to act in accordance with the collective decisions of its members, guided by the working of the Spirit in light of the Scriptures.

We are a member church of the United Church of Christ.  Each member church is autonomous and at the same time works together cooperatively. As a church, we are governed by a Church Council which is elected by the local church. This Church Council is composed of Deacons, Elders and Trustees with each group overseeing specific areas of church life.  The members of the Church Council are elected at the Annual Congregational meeting in January each year.
